Creative Art Explorers (Ages 4–6 with mum)

A shared creative journey for young explorers and their mums. Only available online.

We believe every child is an explorer, and creativity is their greatest tool. These hands-on art and design sessions are designed for kids and mums to create together — building fine motor skills, problem-solving, and a lifelong love of making.

Each class blends play, learning, and connection, giving both child and parent the chance to slow down, make, and enjoy the moment side by side.

Hands-on art & design classes blending STEAM learning, self-expression, and social growth—growing curious makers for the future.

  • We offer small group classes of up to five children with their mums, creating a warm, supportive environment where little ones share ideas, learn together, and build confidence through playful art. For mums, these sessions are just as valuable — they help break the isolation that parenthood can sometimes bring, offering a relaxed space to chat, connect, and socialise with other mums while making alongside your child.

For families who prefer a more tailored approach, we also offer 1:1 classes, where mum and child receive personalised guidance. These sessions move at your own pace, focus on your child’s unique interests, and allow for deeper exploration of techniques and projects.

Whether you choose the sociable buzz of a small group or the focused attention of one-to-one sessions, both formats are designed to feel relaxed, engaging, and inspiring — nurturing creativity for children while offering mums a sense of connection and support.

  • Classes are led by a trained Fine Artist with over 15 years of teaching experience. Together, mum(s) and child(ren) are gently guided through techniques and explorations, making creative time at home easier and more enjoyable.

We understand that spending creative time with little ones can sometimes feel daunting — or, let’s be honest, even a bit boring. That’s where we come in. We provide the structure, inspiration, and encouragement. And if you fancy, sessions can also include relaxed conversation around a topic of your choice — a chance to socialise as much as to create.

  • Mixed media art & design

Art meets STEAM—kids explore, invent, and express while building creativity, confidence, and collaboration skills.

  • 4-class package (each about 60–90 minutes) that balances playful exploration, foundational concepts, and artist inspiration.

    • Exploring endless combinations of paint, collage, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking.

    • Developing fine motor skills, creativity, and problem-solving through guided projects.

    • Light introduction to art theory in a fun, age-appropriate way (colours, shapes, composition).

    • Connecting art to the world: how creativity shaped cultures, history, and daily life.

    • Projects designed to be fun, experimental, and knowledge-building at the same time.

  • Confidence in self-expression, stronger coordination, ability to think creatively about challenges, and deeper appreciation of art as part of the world.

In our art & design classes, children don’t just make art—they explore the foundations of STEAM through creativity, building problem-solving, design thinking, and hands-on making skills that inspire curiosity and confidence.

Each session encourages kids to experiment with materials and techniques while developing fine motor skills and spatial awareness, sparking their imagination in ways that connect art to science, engineering, and everyday life.

Through group activities, they practice collaboration, communication, and social-emotional skills, while individual projects allow them to shine in self-expression and creative independence.

Parents love that these classes nurture well-rounded young thinkers who are not only artistic but also inventive, resilient, and ready to see the world in new ways.

  • In our Lines, Shapes & Patterns classes, children don’t just learn to draw — they learn to see. Each session makes abstract art concepts playful and approachable, turning what could feel “serious” into a joyful exploration.

Kids build confidence by experimenting with unusual tools and group activities that take the pressure off “getting it right.” They develop fine motor skills, rhythm, and visual awareness while learning how art connects to nature, music, and even feelings.

Parents love that their children come home not only with vibrant, collaborative artworks, but also with stronger creative thinking, collaboration skills, and a sense of freedom in self-expression. These classes nurture imagination, resilience, and curiosity — all while showing kids that art is about discovery, not perfection.

Foundations of Seeing & Making

Class 1: Lines as Energy

Warm-up game:

  • Line Doodle Races: Everyone gets 1 minute to fill a page with as many types of lines as possible (zig-zag, curvy, dashed, spirals). Share and laugh together.

  • Blind Contour Portraits: Draw your partner without looking at the paper.

Exploration:

  • Use unusual tools (sticks, toothbrushes, string dipped in ink/paint) to make different kinds of lines.

  • Kids fill a big “line garden” page with as many line types as they can invent.

Concept:

  • “Lines are like different voices—some shout, some whisper, some dance.”

  • Show how lines can express feelings (angry jagged vs calm wavy).

Artist Inspiration:

  • Paul Klee (playful lines, “taking a line for a walk”).

Outcome:
Kids see drawing as playful exploration, not “getting it right.” And that’s OK!

Class 2: Shapes & Playful Abstraction

Warm-up game:

  • “Shape Body Game”: Call out circle, triangle, square—kids make the shape with their bodies.

  • Quick “shape hunt”: Find 3 shapes in the classroom.

Exploration:

  • Print shapes using sponges, cups, cardboard edges.

  • Overlap and layer with color to make “shape cities.”

Concept:

  • “Shapes are the building blocks of everything we see.”

  • Circles = sun/face/ball; triangles = roof/mountain; rectangles = houses/doors.

Artist Inspiration:

  • Henri Matisse (cut-outs, playful color and shape).

Outcome:
Kids learn to see the world as made of shapes, and create lively, layered compositions.

Colorful crayon drawing of various geometric shapes such as circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, and spirals in yellow, blue, pink, red, orange, and green on a beige background.

Class 3: Patterns & Rhythm

Warm-up game:

  • “Clap Pattern”: Class leader claps a rhythm, kids repeat (then they invent their own).

  • Quick doodle challenge: Fill a strip of paper with repeated lines/shapes to make a pattern.

Exploration:

  • Use leaves, toy wheels, corks, or stamps to make repeating prints.

  • Combine line + shape to make patterned borders or frames.

Concept:

  • “Patterns are when something repeats—like music for the eyes.”

  • Patterns can be found in nature (zebra stripes, flower petals).

Artist Inspiration:

  • Yayoi Kusama (dots & infinity patterns).

  • Optional: Escher (for older/more curious kids—tessellations).

Outcome:
Kids experiment with rhythm and repetition, seeing art as connected to both nature and play.

Class 4: Putting It Together – Line, Shape & Pattern Collage

Warm-up game:

  • “Pass the Drawing”: Each kid starts a drawing with lines, passes it on for the next to add shapes, then passes again for patterns.

Exploration:

  • Mixed-media collage: Use colored paper shapes, drawn lines, and stamped patterns.

  • Assemble into a large group mural (“Our Imaginary World”).

Concept:

  • “Art is like mixing ingredients in cooking—you can combine lines, shapes, and patterns to make something new.”

Artist Inspiration:

  • Wassily Kandinsky (lines, shapes, colors working together like music).

  • Or Sonia Delaunay (vibrant color patterns).

Outcome:
Kids see connections between all elements explored, create collaboratively, and understand that art is about experimenting and expressing.
